Report: Maximiliano Romero a Designated Player target for Nashville SC

Nashville SC have identified Argentina youth international striker Maximiliano Romero as a No. 9 and Designated Player candidate, according to a report from Speedway Soccer.


Romero, 21, has been on the books at PSV Eindhoven since 2018 and made two appearances for the Dutch club. Most of his time has come with their reserves, coupled with six caps and two goals with Argentina’s U-20s.

Romero has been on loan at Velez Sarsfield during the 2019-20 campaign, returning to the Argentine club where his professional career began. He’s made 65 appearances with the club, scoring 16 times and dishing out six assists.  


As it stands, the expansion club has Dominique Badji, Abu Danladi and Daniel Rios as options up top. Badji and Danladi have a combined 43 goals and 22 assists across 200 MLS appearances, while Rios has played 22 minutes off the bench.
