FC Cincinnati's Kekuta Manneh undergoes successful shoulder surgery, out six months

FC Cincinnati forward Kekuta Manneh has undergone successful surgery on his injured right shoulder and is expected to be sidelined for around six months, the club announced on Wednesday.

Manneh originally sustained a labral tear in his right shoulder early in Cincinnati's match against the Houston Dynamo on July 6, before suffering a hip flexor injury against Atlanta United on Sept. 18 that led the club to accelerate the timeline for the shoulder procedure. Manneh ends the 2019 season with four goals and three assists in 27 games (15 starts).

Manneh was acquired by Cincinnati on a free transfer ahead of its MLS expansion season on Feb. 13, 2019. He burst onto the MLS scene with the Vancouver Whitecaps in 2013 and established himself as a dynamic young attacking threat, racking up 22 goals and 12 assists during his tenure with the Whitecaps before he was traded to Columbus Crew SC in 2017. After trying his luck in Mexico and Switzerland, Cincinnati swooped him up as part of its inaugural MLS roster.

Sans Manneh, FC Cincinnati will take the field next on Sunday in a matchup with Orlando City SC in its final home match of the season at Nippert Stadium (5 pm ET | TV & streaming info).
