TUESDAY, 2 PM ET: After months of rumors and reports, it appears the drama around Miguel Almiron's potential transfer could be coming to a close.

Doug Roberson of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on Tuesday that Atlanta United and Newcastle United have agreed to terms on the transfer of Almiron to the English Premier League club.

Leading English outlet Sky Sports, along with others, confirmed the report later on Tuesday afternoon.

ESPN's Taylor Twellman and The Telegraph have reported the fee is in the range of $27 million.

Newcastle and Almiron reportedly reached an agreement on his contract over a month ago, but since then the two clubs have been haggling over the amount of the transfer fee. The failure to get a deal done reportedly resulted in Almiron's agent to depart for Italy earlier this week, as he looked to strike a deal with a Serie A club.

Atlanta confirmed the signing of Pity Martinez last week, meaning the club officially have four Designated Players but can only have three on the roster once the season starts.

Almiron, 24, tallied 12 goals and 14 assists in 31 games this season and overcame a hamstring injury to return in time for the Audi 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs, where he helped lead his club to an MLS Cup triumph.
