It looks like LAFC are close to signing a long-time El Salvador international.

Both ESPN Deportes and Salvadoran outlet El Grafico indicate negotiations for the transfer of Rodolfo "Fito" Zelaya are in the advanced stage between LAFC and Alianza, Zelaya's longtime Salvadoran side.

The 30-year-old attacker has played primarily as a center forward or withdrawn forward, though it's possible he could spend time elsewhere in LAFC coach Bob Bradley's front four.

Zelaya has spent the majority of his years playing domestically for Alianza, but appears to have spurned interest from América de Cali in Colombia to make an MLS move.

"We'll have a meeting in the afternoon and he could be traveling today or tomorrow to do the medical exams,”  Lisandro Pohl, executive director of Alianza, told El Grafico in a story published Tuesday. “I talked with the president of Los Angeles and they did things as they should. We hope that today at 2 pm that we can finish all the administrative things for Fito to travel. We want to bid goodbye to him [Saturday] in the game against Águila.”

American and Canadian fans may know Zelaya best from his efforts for his country in World Cup qualification and the Concacaf Gold Cup. Of his 44 appearances for Los Cuscatlecos, 28 have come in those two competitions, according to Transfermarkt.
