Zlatan Ibrahimovic to miss 2018 MLS All-Star Game, next LA Galaxy match

Major League Soccer announced Sunday that the LA Galaxy had informed the league Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not participate in 2018 MLS All-Star Game presented by Target. In a statement, the Galaxy cited the club's three matches in a week and the travel involved.

“I am disappointed to miss the 2018 All-Star game against Juventus, one of my former clubs,” said Ibrahimovic in the team's release. “I want to thank the fans for voting me to the team. My main focus is to score goals and help the LA Galaxy to the playoffs.”

Per MLS policy, Ibrahimovic will miss the Galaxy match that immediately follows the All-Star Game; they next play at Colorado on Saturday (9pm ET | TV & streaming info).


In 17 games with the Galaxy (14 starts), Ibrahimovic has racked up 15 goals and 6 assists. He was voted into the game as part of the 2018 MLS All-Star Fan XI presented by Target.
