The Houston Dynamo were already trailing in their Western Conference Championship opener when defender Jalil Anibaba was shown red in the 28th minute for denial of an obvious goal-scoring opportunity. And even though Joe Willis heroically stuffed the ensuing penalty kick, trying to come-from-behind against a cagey Seattle Sounders defense is already difficult, and doing so with 10 men proved too tricky a task.
Houston Chronicle reporter Corey Roepken checked in with Anibaba, and reveals a player who's clearly been reliving the play and the moments leading up to that fateful foul.
I caught up with Dynamo defender Jalil Anibaba this afternoon to ask about his red card. Here is his reaction:https://t.co/vKerz0d1GY— Corey Roepken (@RipSports) November 22, 2017
Anibaba knows "at this point, my job is to be a good teammate" and he's going to be "our team's biggest fan" during Leg 2 in Seattle. The teams are back in action Thursday, November 30 (10:30pm ET | ESPN, ESPN Deportes, WatchESPN; TSN1, TVAS).
