Laurent Ciman, Belgium knocked out of Euro 2016 in quarterfinals by Wales

Laurent Ciman - Belgium - Disappointed

Laurent Ciman and Belgium are bowing out of Euro 2016.

Belgium were stunned by Wales, 3-1, in a quarterfinals match in Lille, France, on Friday. The Belgians took an early lead through a spectacular strike from Radja Nainggolan, but Wales responded by scoring three unanswered goals to reach the semifinals.

The loss eliminated Belgium from the Euros, but Ciman, 30, is still the MLS player to have gotten deepest in the competition. The Montreal Impact center back made one appearance for Belgium, starting and playing 76 minutes at right back in a 2-0 loss to Italy in the group stage on June 13.

Ciman will now return to Montreal, but Saturday's home game vs. the New England Revolution (5:30 pm ET, TSN2 in Canada and MLS LIVE in the US) likely comes too soon for him to participate. The Impact's next match is away to Real Salt Lake on July 9.
