It seems Orlando City SC will be getting even more MLS experience for the 2015 season, as they announced on Monday they have acquired former Chivas USA midfielder Eric Avila through the MLS allocation ranking. Avila will be with Orlando City on loan for one season from Mexican club Santos Laguna.

Avila also announced the move on Twitter.

The 27-year-old Avila, who scored three goals and recorded three assists in his two years with the Goats, provides a versatile depth piece in Orlando City’s midfield and can also play outside back. In his eight MLS seasons, Avila has eight goals and 14 assists in 153 appearances.

"Eric is a very flexible midfielder who we think will be able to help us in a variety of ways," said Orlando City head coach Adrian Heath in a club statement. "He's an experienced player who has played in this league for quite some time now, so we're delighted to have him with us for the 2015 season."

He was selected 19th overall in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft by FC Dallas and played parts of four seasons there before being traded to Toronto FC in 2011.

Avila represented the US national team at the U-17 and U-20 levels.
