GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Is DaMarcus Beasley the next US international to come home?
After he was placed on Puebla's transfer list last week, the three-time World Cup veteran has declined to address his club situation during the current US national team camp in Northern California. But according to a source close to the Liga MX club, the 31-year-old is hoping to return to Major League Soccer.
Beasley has made it clear to Puebla that he sees his future outside of Mexico and back in MLS and was put on the transfer list for that reason, the source told MLSsoccer.com, as well as the fact his contract with La Franja is coming to an end.
This isn’t the first time the prospect of Beasley moving home has been raised, with a report from local Puebla outlet Diario Cambio earlier this month suggested that Beasley had said the same to club president Jesús López Chargoy.
The former Chicago Fire winger was close to moving to Querétaro during the last offseason, but the deal fell through at the last minute.
US internationals Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey, Clarence Goodson, Maurice Edu and Michael Parkhurst all have returned to MLS from European clubs over the last year.
