Sporting KC honors Jewish Community Campus victims in pregame ceremony | SIDELINE

Six days prior to Saturday night's kickoff at Sporting Park came the senseless shooting tragedy that claimed the lives of three Kansas Citians, just a fair few miles from the home of Sporting Kansas City.

Prior to kickoff of Saturday's match, one that Sporting KC went on to defeat the Montreal Impact 4-0, the club honored last Sunday's victims with a series of tributes.

There was first a moment of silence in remembrance of those lost, followed by "The Star Spangled Banner" — which was sung on the night by Anna Arends, a high school classmate of Reat Griffin Underwood, 14, one of three lives claimed in the shootings.

Sporting players also wore white armbands over their left sleeve on Saturday, while the Kansas City Cauldron displayed the following banner (also seen above) in the stadium's north end for the duration of the match.

"Too much love to let hate win" — a message we can all get behind.
