American Exports: Goodson mulling potential Turkey move

Clarence Goodson with Brondby

AMSTERDAM – Brøndby have announced that captain Clarence Goodson is off to get the lay of the land at Turkish transfer suitors Orduspor.

The 30-year-old center back, who has entered the final year of his contract, is slated to return to Denmark on Sunday and has been excused from his club's weekend friendly with third-flight mites Fremad Amager.

"Both we and Clarence are in dialogue with Orduspor for a switch, but there is no agreement in place," Brøndby technical director Ole Bjur told the club website.

Meanwhile, Goodson rep Lyle Yorks says his client has competing interest in Germany and Switzerland.

"He's got a few different options," the agent told MLSsoccer.com on Thursday evening. "We hope to have it sorted out soon."

Goodson, who temporarily lost his starting place in November, has worked 59 matches across all competition since joining Brøndby two winters back. The Virginia native has a goal and seven yellow cards in 14 contests this term.

If he completes a move to Orduspor, Goodson would be the second American to move to Turkey in the January transfer window, with Maurice Edu completing a loan move to Bursaspor earlier Thursday.
