American Exports: Injury crisis forces Gatt back to Molde

AMSTERDAM – Molde FK boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær says an injury crisis at the back forced him to recall right-side handyman Josh Gatt from US Olympic camp this week.

The reigning Norwegian champs start their title defense on Friday against visiting Strømsgodset, with natural winger Gatt set to fill in at right back as he did so often last season.

"Three defenders are injured," Solskjær told MLSsoccer.com via e-mail. "With Josh out, it leaves me with only four fit defenders."

Last term, more than half of Gatt's 14 starts and 22 appearances came at right back. In his final preseason friendly before briefly joining Caleb Porter's US Olympic squad, the Michigan native notched two goals and two assists playing as a winger to help Molde defeat home side Lillestrøm in a 5-4 thriller.
