KREIS RESUMES HUNT FOR CENTURY MARK ON SATURDAY AGAINST DALLAS: RSL FW Jason Kreis, Major League Soccer's All-Time Leading Scorer and the team's first acquisition prior to the 2005 MLS Expansion Draft last November, pursues the century mark this weekend against his former club, FC Dallas. Kreis advanced one goal closer to career goal #100 on July 4 at Rice-Eccles Stadium, when MF Clint Mathis lofted a ball into the box for Kreis who went up to play the ball and was knocked to the ground by MetroStars DF Carlos Mendes. Kreis lined up for his own spot kick with the potential tying goal on the line, and after taking a moment to regain his wind, he buried the ball just inside the post to tie the game scoring goal No. 97 in the 90th minute.

BROOME READY FOR SHOWDOWN AGAINST HOMETOWN TEAM: Recent RSL acquisition via trade from Los Angeles, DF Paul Broome, made his RSL debut by replacing FW Jordan Cila and playing the final 17 minutes in the team's 3-2 loss to the Kansas City Wizards on Saturday. The Dallas native hopes to see additional minutes against his former team this Saturday when RSL plays FC Dallas at Rice-Eccles Stadium. Broome started 64 games and played four and half seasons with the Dallas Burn before being traded to the Los Angeles Galaxy on July 11, 2003.

RSL FINISHES WIZARDS GAME WITH FOUR ROOKIES ON THE FIELD: RSL Head Coach John Ellinger added some youthful energy to the lineup in the 3-2 loss to the Kansas City Wizards last Saturday, when rookie DF Michael Lookingland got his first start of the season, playing a full 90 minutes and lining up in the central defense alongside DF Brian Dunseth. MF Kenny Cutler made his seventh consecutive start this season since becoming a regular fixture in the holding midfielder position. FW Jamie Watson, who started his first game and scored his first professional goal on June 22 in a 1-1 draw against the Galaxy, was the fourth rookie injected into the lineup in the 56th minute as a substitute for MF Clint Mathis. The fourth rookie was MF Luke Kreamalmeyer who entered the game in the 34th minute for DF Brian Kamler and added his first assist of the 2005 season just 10 minutes later when he connected a cross with FW Jordan Cila in the 44th minute.

FC DALLAS REVIEW: During RSL's first meeting against FC Dallas on April 23, during Week Four at the Cotton Bowl, was the team's second loss of the season in a 3-0 defeat. FC Dallas took the lead four minutes into the game when MF Richard Mulrooney sent a direct kick past RSL GK DJ Countess. In the 29th minute Dallas doubled the lead as FW Eddie Johnson blasted a low left-footed drive home. The final goal came in the 63rd minute after FW Carlos Ruiz was fouled in the area and took his own penalty. RSL was reduced to 10 men in the 72nd minute when DF Eddie Pope was ejected from the game when he picked up his second-ever red card for a questionable foul.

RSL's second game against the Western Conference leaders was on June 4 as part of the U.S.-Costa Rica doubleheader in front of over 40,000 fans. In the 22nd minute, FC Dallas FW Abe Thompson beat the RSL defense and faced a one-on-one with RSL 'keeper DJ Countess. Countesses stretched to make a finger tip save, but MF Ronnie O'Brien managed put the ball in the net off the deflection, giving Dallas the 1-0 lead. O'Brien broke through the RSL defense for a second time in the 58th minute when he snuck between two defenders to fire off a rocket. RSL breathed a momentary sigh of relief when Countess made a nice kick save, but the ball bounced out to Thompson who easily slotted Dallas' second goal of the night into the back of the net.
