Goal of the Year?

Freddy Adu's impressive second-half goal at Real Salt Lake on Oct. 5 has been named one of 10 finalists for the Sierra Mist MLS Goal of the Year.

The goal came after Adu received a ball near midfield from Jamil Walker and controlled his first touch with his chest. With his second touch he flicked the ball over his head, behind himself and over a Salt Lake defender. He spun around the defender and pushed the ball forward with his head. Carrying the ball towards goal, Adu split two additional defenders, ran into the box and slotted home a left-footed shot into the far right corner of the goal to put D.C. up 2-0.
