Ismaël Koné: Montréal "gave me the platform" for Watford move
The last time a player moved permanently between Watford and MLS, it was Colombian striker Cucho Hernandez leaving behind England for a new opportunity at the Columbus Crew.
CF Montréal announced that 19-year-old midfielder Ismaël Koné signed his first professional contract with the club's first team. It is a two-year agreement, with two option years in 2023, and 2024.
"Ismaël has been training with us since the start of the year, his constant progression has only confirmed the full potential that we see in him since the start, and we're very happy to finally be able to make it official," said CF Montréal sporting director Olivier Renard.
"I am very happy and proud to sign my first MLS contract," said Koné. "It’s a childhood dream come true. I am very grateful to the Club for this opportunity and I am more determined than ever to keep on progressing to win my place in the first team."
