Professional Career

2021 Real Salt Lake: Playing in the center of midfield, Luiz featured in 25 matches for RSL, 19 of which were starts. Luiz registered one assist in 2021.

2020 Real Salt Lake: Luiz played 919 minutes across 14 appearances for RSL in 2020, including 11 starts.

2019 Real Salt Lake: In his first season with the club the Brazilian made 29 appearances, starting in 26 of them. Luiz recorded two assists in 2,279 minutes and made his mark in the defensive midfield for RSL. Luiz was voted RSL’s Most Valuable Player in 2019.

2018 S.P.A.L. (Italy): Luiz’s successful season with Partizan led to the move to S.P.A.L. in Italy, where he helped the club avoid relegation in the 2017-2018 season. Throughout his professional career before joining RSL, Luiz scored a total of seven goals in 155 league matches and ten goals in 246 matches across all competitions.

2016-2018 Partizan (Serbia): His next stop came in Serbia, where he won the Serbian Cup twice and earned Serbian SuperLiga Team of the Season honors for his efforts in winning the Serbian SuperLiga in 2016-2017.

2014-2015 FC St. Gallen 1879 (Switzerland): Luiz signed with St. Gallen in June 2014 and started in 35 of 39 total appearances across two seasons.

2013-2014 FC Lugano (Switzerland): The hard-nosed defensive midfielder played one season with Lugano. He scored his first goal for Lugano in a 4-2 win against FC Schaffhausen on July 21, 2013. He would go on to start all 28 of his appearances.

2012-2013 Clube de Regatas Brasil (Brazil): Luiz signed for CRB in January 2012 and helped the club win its 26th & 27th Campeonato Alagoano in back to back years in addition to being named in the competition’s team of the year in both seasons. During his time at CRB, Luiz made 10 appearances on loan to Liga MX side San Luis before returning to CRB.

2010 Marília (Brazil): Luiz worked his way through the ranks in Brazil with Ponte Preta before being signed by Palmeiras and loaned to Marília where he made 13 appearances and scored two goals in the 2010 season.2008 FC Gloria Buzău (Romania): Luiz made his professional debut for FC Gloria Buzău as part of the starting eleven on September 14, 2008. He would make three additional appearances for the club.
