What every 22 Under 22 presented by BODYARMOR player needs to work on
Even the best young players need to improve. Here’s what I’ve seen from this year’s 22 Under 22 presented by BODYARMOR crop, and what they need to work on:
HOW ACQUIRED: Signed as a Homegrown Player on March 4, 2018.
Alvarez is a very talented and creative young player with a great vision of the game who has a good change of pace and is very good in tight spaces. As a 16-year-old, he was the seventh-youngest player to sign in MLS and could be poised for a breakout season.
INTERNATIONAL: Alvarez has spent time with U.S. Soccer Youth National Team and Mexican National Team sides. He was called into Gregg Berhalter's December camp. Previously, Alvarez had four goals to lead Mexico to the FIFA U-17 final in November. He also scored the lone goal for Mexico’s U-17 team in a win over Argentina and featured for the Mexico U-15s at the Rimini Cup in Germany in 2017.
ACADEMY: Alvarez had a big 2017 with the LA Galaxy academy, leading the U-17/18s to the USSDA Championships, scoring in the team’s quarterfinal, semifinal and championship matches.
The new home for MLS is here! Every match. No blackouts.
