Wizards to host World Cup final draw watch party Friday

The Kansas City Wizards announced that the club will host a 2010 FIFA World Cup Final Draw watch party Friday at the Sports Radio 810 Zone on the Country Club Plaza from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. CT. Soccer fans from around the metro area are encouraged to attend the event to find out whom the United States and other National Teams will face off against in the 1st round of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ in South Africa. The first 100 fans will be granted FREE access to an appetizer buffet, and all fans in attendance will have the opportunity to win great door prizes. Kansas City Wizards players will also be in attendance, and drink specials will be offered by the 810 Zone.


During the Final Draw, one team from each of four "pots" will be selected Friday to make up eight four-team groups for next summer's FIFA World Cup™. The Draw will be broadcast live on ESPN 2 and Univision. The pots are as follows:


Pot 1: South Africa (host), Brazil, Spain, Netherlands, Italy (defending champion), Germany, Argentina and England
Pot 2: USA, Australia, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, New Zealand, Honduras and Mexico
Pot 3: Algeria, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay
Pot 4: Denmark, France, Greece, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland


Door prizes, including an Xbox 360, Kansas City Wizards gear, FIFA 2010 video games and Official 2010 FIFA World Cup™ Game Balls will be distributed via raffle. The fan in attendance deemed to be the most patriotic will receive one of the Official Game Balls. The Official Game Balls will be unveiled for the first time Friday during the World Cup Draw watch party, making raffle winners some of the first people worldwide to receive the prestigious soccer ball. ------------------------------------------------------------


The Kansas City Wizards are now accepting renewals from current season ticket holders and new season ticket deposits for the 2010 Major League Soccer season. The Wizards will begin the 2010 campaign with a home match on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. CT against D.C. United at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Kansas City, a charter member of Major League Soccer, will play its 15th season in 2010.


Fans who renew their season tickets or purchase new season-ticket packages will retain an early priority number that will determine seat locations in Kansas City's new stadium. Kansas City is one of 27 remaining cities in the running to be part of the USA Bid Committee's bid submission to FIFA. The USA Bid Committee is expected to include 18 cities in their bid to FIFA, naming those cities in December.
