GALAXY AND METROSTARS CLASH ON THE NINTH OF JULY AT GIANTS STADIUM: Two of the original teams in Major League Soccer will continue their historic series which spans over nine years and 10 seasons. This marks the second and final time the two teams will meet this season. After a 2-2 draw a month ago at The Home Depot Center, the MetroStars (5-4-6) will now host the Galaxy (7-5-4) on July 9 at 5 pm (PT) at Giants Stadium. The Galaxy continue an arduous schedule on the road against the MetroStars. After a quick stop back in Carson, the Galaxy's match against the MetroStars marks the fifth game away from home in the last six. The top of the western conference remains tight, as the Galaxy and San Jose Earthquakes chase FC Dallas for the top spot. Meanwhile, the MetroStars struggle to stay above .500, while only posting two home wins this season.

Two MetroStar players will look familiar to Galaxy fans and players alike. Ante Razov played for the Galaxy during the '96 and '97 seasons, but posted only minimal numbers. Ryan Suarez played for the Galaxy during the last half of the '03 season and for all of the '04 season. During the 2004 season Suarez started in 25 games for the Galaxy.

The game will be broadcast live on FSN West beginning with the Galaxy Countdown at 4:30 pm (PT), and can also be heard in English on KMPC 1540 AM and in Spanish on KMXE 830 AM.

A QUICK LOOK AT THE ALL-TIME HISTORY BETWEEN THE GALAXY AND THE METROSTARS: The Galaxy and the MetroStars have a history that dates back to the start of Major League Soccer in 1996. The clubs have met a total of 24 times during the regular season. The Galaxy lead the all-time series with 11 wins, but the MetroStars are right behind with 10 wins. Despite the Galaxy's winning record, their last win against the MetroStars came on August 31, 2002. In the last seven meetings, the MetroStars have won four, and the two teams have tied three times, two of which ended in double overtime.
