With MLS rosters locking next Monday for the remainder of the season, it seems likely there will be more movement in the coming days.
One player who could be on his way over is experienced Irish defender Sean St. Ledger. That's the word according to The Herald of Ireland, who reported on Wednesday that according to St. Ledger, he has received "a few sniffs from the USA."
The 29-year-old, who started all of Ireland's Euro 2012 games and scored their only goal of the tournament, is currently a free agent, and told The Herald he is prepared to go on trial to earn a new contract.
"I am still without a club and it looks like I will have to go on trial, but I am fine with that. Beggars can't be choosers," said the player, according to the article.
Despite being an Irish international, St. Ledger was born in England and has spent his entire professional club career to date in the English lower divisions. Getting his start with Peterborough United in 2002, he moved to Preston North End in 2006, and had a short loan stint with Middlesborough in 2009. He went back to Preston until 2011, when he moved to Leicester City, where he remained until the end of last season, with the exception of another loan stint, at Millwall in 2013.
St. Ledger reportedly believes a short stay in the US could revive his prospects at home.
"I would consider [playing in MLS] but their transfer window closes next week. I could possibly go there, play the few few months of their season to prove myself and come back to England. It's a waiting game and it's frustrating," he said.
