Two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference square off Sunday night at Rentschler Field when Toronto FC host Columbus Crew SC.

Toronto (7W-2L-4D) are coming off a 1-0 victory over NYCFC at Red Bull Arena Wednesday night, while Supporters' Shield-leading Columbus defeated Minnesota United 2-1 at MAPFRE Stadium.

Toronto FC

It was far from their best performance, but Toronto found a way to take all three points thanks to an Alejandro Pozuelo penalty kick in the 90th minute. Alex Bono, in only his second start of the season, made eight saves to tie a club record with his 28th career clean sheet.

"The guys, they just gutted it out, they grinded it and they did whatever they had to do," Greg Vanney said after the game. "'Bones' made some big saves, and we had a few chances through the course of the game as well. Even though the game wasn't perfect, for me, wins like tonight are sometimes more valuable than the wins you get when you play teams off the field. Just for our group, we know we have a group that can play good soccer and tonight is just a character win."

Columbus Crew SC

The Crew extended an unbeaten streak to six matches following a 2-1 victory over Minnesota United at MAPFRE Stadium Wednesday night. While the club's defense has been lauded for conceding a league-low five goals this season, Caleb Porter doesn't think the attack gets enough credit.

“Our defending has gotten a lot of the talk and yet I think quietly we’re becoming one of the best attacking teams in the league," Porter said after the match.

Part of that attack is Pedro Santos, who is on a five-match points streak (3G, 4A).
