RSL volunteers to help local citizen

Real Salt Lake joined with United Way of Salt Lake in a community wide event on Thursday to help local families in need of various assistance. RSL FW Jason Kreis and MF Leslie Fitzpatrick along with RSL staff volunteered time as part of United Way Day to aid 77-year-old Ramona Fivas a resident of West Valley, Utah.

"As an organization, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve in the community and to help someone as deserving as Ramona Fivas," said RSL General Manager Steve Pastorino. "We are thankful for our partnership with the United Way of Salt Lake and its commitment to improving the lives of Utahans."

The RSL family met with representatives of Life Care Bank, a non-profit organization designed to help low-income senior citizens, and Fivas in the morning to discuss the needs of her residency. Throughout the course of the day, volunteers weeded the yard, cut back the over growth, added a fresh coat of paint to doors and windows, and removed unwanted items collected over the years. Kreis returned today to continue the makeover by building a stairway with a railing for Fivas.

RSL was one of 87 local organizations and more than 2,500 volunteers that completed a service project for 140 United Way of Salt Lake Impact Partners and people in need in Salt Lake, Summit and Tooele counties. United Way Day allows local organizations to celebrate the spirit of volunteerism and to help the communities most vulnerable citizens.
