With two second-half goals from forward Anthony Hamilton, the Chivas USA Reserves earned a 2-1 win over the Kansas City Wizards Reserves today at The Home Depot Center's Track and Field Stadium.
Kansas City (5-5-1, 16 pts) would take an early lead on a goal from forward Willy Guadarrama. In the 33rd minute, Wizards guest player Geoff Miles fired a shot from inside the penalty area, which Chivas USA goalkeeper Preston Burpo managed to kick-save. But Guadarrama would pounce on the ensuing rebound off the crossbar to bag his third goal of the 2007 MLS Reserve Division and give the visitors a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
But Hamilton gave the Chivas USA Reserves (5-2-2, 17 pts) the eventual win, first by pouncing on a Eric Kronberg save of a John Cunliffe shot in the 62nd minute. Then, in the 77th minute, Chivas USA midfielder Jorge Flores sent a cross from the left wing that was headed down into the penalty area by Chivas USA guest player Chris Cortez, which Hamilton pounced on to score from five yards for this sixth Reserve Division goal of 2007.
