A new report from Colombia claims Minnesota United FC are renewing their pursuit of a transfer target -- and adding another player to that pursuit, too.

Colombian radio outlet La Bamba Deportiva Tweeted on Wednesday that the Loons have made bids on Deportivo Cali duo Nicolas Benedetti and Kevin Balanta.

Benedetti (pictured above), now 21, is a player Minnesota have reportedly been interested in for a year, with initial reports coming in last year's primary transfer window that a bid offered had been rejected because the teams were too far apart. Speculation chugged along last summer that the pursuit could be renewed, with the player said to be interested in moving to MLS.

The midfielder has one senior cap for Colombia and has drawn rumored interest from European sides as well.

Balanta, also 21, is also a midfielder and also has one senior cap to his name to date. He is a defensive-minded midfielder who like Benedetti has spent his entire career to date with Deportivo Cali.

Minnesota have made two big moves in midfield so far this offseason, signing former Seattle Sounders stalwart Ozzie Alonso and new Designated Player Jan Gregus. They will open their new stadium, Allianz Field, this year, and kick off the 2019 MLS regular season on March 2 on the road against Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
