The nominations for the 2016 Sports Business Awards are out, and there are a number of MLS representatives recognized.
Most notably, 2015 MLS Cup champions Portland Timbers are nominated for Sports Team of the Year, joining the Carolina Panthers (NFL), Golden State Warriors (NBA), Kansas City Royals (MLB) and Tampa Bay Lightning (NHL).
The ninth annual edition of the awards, presented by Sports Business Daily, recognize some of the teams, people, events, venues, agencies, sponsors, media and fan experiences in the world of American sports in the previous year.
Orlando City SC, Avaya Stadium (San Jose Earthquakes) and Major League Soccer were also recognized as nominees, as was the 2015 Women's World Cup-winning US national team. View the full list.
