TORONTO — Peri Marosevic has been an instant hit with Toronto FC.

Picked up late last week after he was waived by FC Dallas, Marosevic (pictured above, center) scored a goal to kick-start the Reds’ come-from-behind 2-2 draw against Portland last weekend. Then he set up the first of two goals from Ryan Johnson in a 2-1 win over Real Estelí to help Toronto push through to Group C of the CONCACAF Champions League on Tuesday.

If first impressions mean anything, it’s been a very good week.

“I’ve always been real comfortable in front of the net,” said Marosevic, who hadn’t scored an MLS goal until his tally against Portland. “I feel like putting myself in the right situations and being dangerous in the box, creating chances to score, and opportunities like that is part of my game.”

The relocation to Toronto is a welcome one for Marosevic, who struggled to find playing time with FC Dallas, logging just four appearances in more than two seasons before he was released.

“I’m not a selfish player. I always look to play the ball off to somebody who has a better chance, if I can’t take the shot,” he said. “I always look to get behind the defense and take as many shots as I can and hopefully I can be dangerous.”

Toronto have a draw and win since Marosevic joined the team, and his first experiences have been positive.

“There's a lot of heart, a lot of spirit and it's great to see,” he said. “I've seen it just sitting around with the guys talking. You see it in the mood, you see it in the people and we transform it on the field."

Even so, the Generation adidas man knows there's much left to do for the struggling Reds.

“There's a long way to go,” Marosevic added. “There's a lot of games to play and we want to do well and hopefully we can keep up the momentum.”
