Holland won't name new boss until March '08

Marco van Basten

ZEIST - Holland will not name their new national team coach until March 2008 at the earliest, according to Dutch Federation (KNVB) director Henk Kesler.

Current Oranje boss Marco van Basten and his assistant John van 't Schip have already announced they will hand over the reins after Euro 2008.

Kesler said: "The KNVB is consulting wide on this and will talk to stakeholders."

In an ironic reference to the Vatican procedure for the election of a new Pope, he continued: "The white smoke will not be visible before March 2008."

And Kesler killed rumours that a change may be made before Euro 2008 after Holland finished second to Romania in their qualifying group.

"Van Basten and Van 't Schip will definitely be the coaches of Holland during Euro 2008, no doubt about that," said Kesler.

"There never was any doubt about that from the start."
