The LA Galaxy Tuesday acquired a third round pick (35th overall) in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft from the Colorado Rapids in exchange for the MLS rights to defender Ty Harden. The Galaxy now have five picks in Thursday's SuperDraft, which will be held at the St. Louis Convention Center in St. Louis, Mo.
Harden, the Galaxy's 2007 Defender of the Year, did not play in 2008 after electing to step away from the game to pursue philanthropic endeavors in February. A second round pick in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft out of the University of Washington, Harden appeared in and started a then-rookie record 24 games for the Galaxy in 2007, playing 2,086 minutes for the Galaxy, which were the second most on the club that season.
The 2009 SuperDraft will begin at 11 a.m. (PT) on Thursday, with ESPN2 televising the first hour of the proceedings live. In addition to ESPN2's live coverage, fans will also be able follow all of the proceedings live as they happen at www.mlsnet.com.
The LA Galaxy are now accepting deposits for the 2009 season, which kicks off at 12 p.m. on Sunday, March 22 when the club hosts D.C. United at The Home Depot Center. A non-refundable deposit of 25% per seat secures your place for each 2009 Galaxy regular season game, plus great benefits including exclusive events with the team, special season seat holder gifts, and much more.
