The LA Galaxy Thurday officially relaunched the club's official Spanish-language Web site by announcing the creation of www.lagalaxyfutbol.com. The site will become the online hub of all Galaxy Spanish language news and information. The Galaxy originally launched their Spanish-language site in March 2007. The relaunch will give fans easier access to the site.
Heading into the 2009 season, the club's Spanish language Web site will get a makeover, www.lagalaxyfutbol.com is the first of many changes to further serve and inform its Hispanic fan base of the team. The Galaxy has always enjoyed great tradition and a special connection with the Hispanic community, via Galaxy Deportivo, a Spanish-language weekly TV show that airs Saturdays on KWHY-22 and Sundays on Telemundo 52, ESPN Deportes Radio's broadcast of games and the club's weekly show Puro Galaxy, as well as the implementation of programs like Copa LA, Serie de Campeones and the Hispanic Clinic Series, or the popularity of players like Mauricio Cienfuegos, Jorge Campos, Eduardo "El Tanque" Hurtado and Carlos "El Pescadito" Ruiz.
The website will offer all of the same amenities as the team's English language site, including, independent news, press releases, community news, all the latest stats, schedule, roster information and exclusive video and audio content as well as some original content that's just for our Spanish-speaking fans. Additionally, the Galaxy's new Spanish-language site will become the main source of information for our youth tournaments Copa LA and Serie de Campeones, our adult tournament Galaxy Clásico, which feature men's and women's open divisions, and the club's Hispanic Clinic Series.
According to the most recent U.S. Census Bureau data, 4.7 million Hispanic people live in the county of Los Angeles, the largest Hispanic population of any county in the country. Additionally, neighboring counties like Orange, San Diego, Riverside and San Bernardino rank fifth, sixth, eleventh and twelfth in that same list.
