Fire PDL player signs Gen adidas contract

Major League Soccer and adidas announced Wednesday the 2009 class of Generation adidas players that will enter the professional ranks for the 2009 Major League Soccer season. Peri Marosevic of the Chicago Fire Premier PDL team was among the nine players identified as the most promising soccer players in the United States. Marosevic has signed a contract with MLS, and is eligible for selection in the upcoming 2009 MLS SuperDraft as a member of the Generation adidas program.

The players who join MLS as part of the Generation adidas program receive unprecedented opportunities to develop their game and hone their skills at the professional level in Major League Soccer. In addition to training and playing with one of Major League Soccer's 15 professional clubs, Generation adidas players receive educational grants to further their college education. Generation adidas players do not count against an MLS team's salary budget.

The University of Michigan product played with the Fire PDL squad in 2007 and 2008 and has trained under Fire Academy head coach Louis Mateus since the age of eight. Marosevic will take part in the 2009 adidas MLS Player Combine this weekend, January 9-13, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. alongside fellow Fire PDL players Brandon Barklage and Brad Ring.
