FC Dallas announced that the team will face Costa Rica Primera Division team Club Sport Herediano in an international friendly on Wednesday, June 10 at Pizza Hut Park, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. CT. CS Herediano is one of the top clubs in Costa Rica, having won the league title 21 times.
"We're very excited to be playing CS Herediano from Costa Rica," said FC Dallas Head Coach Schellas Hyndman. "They're a very good team and this gives our players an extra opportunity to face quality competition. This game will not only help our players' individual development, but will also help the coaching staff continue to make evaluations."
CS Herediano is set to face Municipal Liberia Mia for the Primera Division title in a two-game aggregate goal series on dates to be determined. The club earned the trip to the final by defeating Brujas FC 6-2 in a semifinal series.
The team's roster boasts six players that have been called up to Costa Rican national team duty for upcoming World Cup Qualifiers versus the United States (June 3) and Trinidad & Tobago (June 6), including former MLS forward Andy Herron, midfielders Cristhian Montero, Cristhian Blanco and Bismar Acosta, and goalkeepers Ricardo Gonzalez and Adrian De Lemos.
