The Colorado Rapids open their 2019 preseason match slate on Saturday, meeting expansion newcomers FC Cincinnati for a morning duel in Southwest Florida.
FC Cincinnati
It's the second preseason game for FCC, who drew 1-1 with the Montreal Impact in their opener on Wednesday evening. Star playmaker Ignacio Piatti gave the Impact an early lead before Cincy took a share of the spoils via a long-ball goal from Darren Mattocks.
MLS's newest team are almost halfway into their two-week camp in Bradenton, and head coach Alan Koch sounds cautiously positive about his side's progress towards full speed:
Colorado Rapids
One of the worst teams in MLS in 2018, the Rapids kept faith in coach Anthony Hudson but have made significant changes to their roster, which goalkeeper and veteran leader Tim Howard thinks is the most talented they've had.
The Mile High Club have brought several academy prospects and trialists to work out with the squad in Bradenton, and shift their locale to Chula Vista, California for phase two of their preseason next week.
