The Earthquakes trained Thursday on Stanton Field at Santa Clara University in some cold and damp conditions. There was a large squad participating in he session. Following 5-v-2's and a warm-up, the training session included a controlled game of keep-away, as well as a full scrimmage.
The full scrimmage was highlighted by a beautiful goal by Arturo Alvarez in which he ripped a shot from the 18-yard box into the top corner. The blue team, with Alvarez and Nick Garcia ended up winning the scrimmage 1-0 over the team in yellow, which had Darren Huckerby and Ryan Cochrane.
Newly signed forward Cam Weaver was present, and participated in full training with the team.
