WASHINGTON, D.C. - D.C. United announced today event details for 'Copa D.C. V,' the yearly 6v6 tournament hosted by the club and presented by MiCash and Telecard Network. The opening rounds of the tournament will kickoff on Saturday, October 29 at the Rockville SportsPlex, with the quarters, semis and final taking place on Sunday, October 30. Teams are guaranteed three 40-minute games, 10 tournament t-shirts, 10 gift bags and 10 tickets to United's home playoff game versus the Chicago Fire on October 30 (kickoff 4:30 p.m.) - all for the $375 entry fee. Teams are limited to a maximum of 10 players per team. 'La Mara' will be defending its fourth straight tournament championship.
The champion of 'Copa D.C. V' will receive a check for $2,000, a trophy, gold medals for each player on the team and free entry into 2006's 'Copa D.C. VI.' The runner-up will receive a check for $1,000 and silver medals, the third place team a $500 check and bronze medals, while the fourth place team will receive a $500 check.
