CHIVAS USA PLAYERS NAMED TO SO CAL CONFERENCE 'STARTING XI' TEAMS


With the 2007-08 Development Academy season now complete, five Chivas USA players have been named to the 'Starting XI' for the Southern California Conference in the league. These all-star teams were selected by Development Academy coaches and National Team scouts. At the U-18 level, the Red-and-White had defender Omar Elmasri and midfielders Jesse Paredes and Mario Ledezma picked to represent the team, while the U-16 team included midfielder Carlo Chueca and forward Jorge Ramirez from Chivas USA. AMBER HERNANDEZ OF SOUTH VALLEY CHIVAS ACADEMY CALLED UP TO MEXICO U-17 TEAM


Amber Hernandez, a 15-year-old member of the South Valley Chivas Academy in Porterville, Calif., has been called up to the Mexican U-17 National Team for the squad's upcoming participation in the CONCACAF U-17 Women's Championship. Hernandez was selected by coach Leonardo Cuellar, and will be part of the team that will face Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Canada in the group stage. The tournament runs from July 17-27 in Trinidad and Tobago.

SPECIAL 'VERANO MLS' SESSION NEXT TUESDAY AT BELL GARDENS


Major League Soccer and Chivas USA's exciting summer soccer program, Verano MLS, enters its final week at Bell Gardens, and will host a special session next Tuesday, July 22. In its second edition, Verano MLS is a free summer soccer program giving youth ages 8-12 a free opportunity to play pick-up-style soccer twice a week in a safe and controlled environment. The program will run from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. on selected dates in June and July. In the second-to-last session in Southern California, Tang will be on hand with samples of new flavors, and will also provide participants with a chance to meet acclaimed young actor Adrian Alonso. CHIVAS USA SOCCER CAMPS AND TRYOUTS GOING STRONG


Chivas USA's Soccer Camps, which also double as tryouts for the Chivas USA Youth Teams, will take place from June 26 to Aug. 30 at the Bell Gardens Sports Center in Bell Gardens, Calif. These camps will give players a chance to receive professional instruction from Chivas USA coaches, and could potentially lead to an invitation to join the Chivas USA U-18 or U-16 Teams, which participate in the United States Soccer Development Academy, or the highly competitive U-15 Team. 'KICK-IT' THIS SATURDAY, JULY 19 AT BALDWIN HILLS RECREATION CENTER IN LOS ANGELES


'Kick-it at the Park L.A. with Chivas USA' continues this Saturday, July 19, with a clinic at the Baldwin Hills Recreation Center at 5401 Highlight Place in Los Angeles. A series of four, 90-minute clinics kicks off at 9:00 a.m., followed by clinics at 10:45 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. Run in conjunction with the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, 'Kick-it' is a series of clinics that emphasize physical fitness, sports, and education for as many as 400 children at each of 40 locations throughout the year. A five-dollar fee gets participants 90 minutes of instruction, a voucher for a free ticket to a Chivas USA game, a t-shirt, soccer ball, and Certificate of Completion. ABOUT THE U.S. SOCCER DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY


The U.S Soccer Development Academy is a nationwide youth development initiative, organized by the U.S. Soccer Federation, featuring 63 of the top youth teams in the country competing in a league system at both the U-18 and U-16 levels. The first part of the season ran from October to November, and after a winter break the league has resumed play and will continue through the end of June. The 63 youth programs, including one U.S. Youth National Team in each age group, are divided into eight regions, each of which will send a single qualifier to the national finals to be held at The Home Depot Center after the regular season concludes in late June.
