Chivas USA release preseason schedule

Chivas USA announced on Tuesday its preseason schedule of trips and events, highlighted by week-long stints in Guadalajara, Mexico, and Phoenix, Ariz. The team will also return to Fresno, Calif., to play the Premier Development League's (PDL) Fresno Fuego on March 6. The trips to Guadalajara and Phoenix will also include a mix of competition which includes MLS and Liga de Ascenso (Mexican second division) teams.

The Red-and-White will travel to Mexico this Thursday, and will play its first exhibition against Mexican opposition when the Red-and-White travel to face Irapuato, currently in first place in the Liga de Ascenso, on Saturday, Feb. 13 at Sergio León Chávez stadium in Irapuato. While in Guadalajara, Chivas USA will train at the facilities that are home to Chivas de Guadalajara. After a brief return to Los Angeles, the team will then travel to Phoenix, Ariz., facing the Kansas City Wizards on Wednesday, Feb. 24, and the Columbus Crew on Saturday, Feb. 27.

Following the Crew match, Chivas USA returns again to Southern California, but will then move north for an exhibition match against the Fresno Fuego (PDL) on Saturday, March 6 at Chukchansi Park in Fresno. The Red-and-White will also face UCLA and potentially other opponents in scrimmage matches at The Home Depot Center prior to starting the season. A schedule of matches is below; other games may be added in the coming weeks.
