Chelsea's Jose Mourinho sends letter of condolences to family of Shawn Kuykendall | SIDELINE

Chelsea FC manager Jose Mourinho

Three weeks ago came the sad news that former D.C. United and New York Red Bulls midfielder Shawn Kuykendall had passed away after a year-long battle with thymic cancer.

Kuykendall was 32 years old. The day he passed away, March 12, 2014, was filled with many touching tributes from former teammates, friends and others inspired by his story.

On Tuesday of this week came the feel-good story of how Kuykendall's "Kuykenstrong" story had reached the ear and touched the heart of Chelsea FC star midfielder Frank Lampard.

On Thursday, The Kuykenstrong Foundation shared the condolences and well wishes extended to Sherry and Kurt Kuykendall, Shawn's parents, from another member of the Chelsea family — manager José Mourinho.

Much has been said of Mourinho's often times abrasive management style, what that leads people to think of him as a person, as well as his self-given nickname, "The Special One." But that's Mourinho, the football manager.

The following letter, hand signed by Mourinho, is nothing short of pure class on his part. Mourinho, the man.
