For Iain Hume, the joy of achieving promotion will soon be replaced with uncertainty as his loan deal with the English League One champions comes to an end.
Hume (above) started and played 67 minutes on Saturday as Doncaster won the league in dramatic fashion with a goal six minutes deep in second-half stoppage time to beat Brentford 1-0 and vault above Bournemouth for the League One title.
Prior to the season, Hume was loaned to Doncaster after his club, Preston North End, didn’t include him in their plans. And with that likely still the case, it could mean an offseason of change for Hume.
If he sticks with Doncaster, he could be joining David Edgar in the Championship. The former Newcastle man played the full 90 minutes on Saturday for Burnley in their 2-1 win over Wolves in their penultimate game of the season.
In the Netherlands, it looks like Atiba Hutchinson and PSV Eindhoven will have to settle for second place in the Eredivisie despite beating Groningen 5-2 on Saturday. League leaders Ajax also won and remain four points ahead with two games remaining.
In Germany, Augsburg’s prospects of staying up in the Bundesliga look better this week and Marcel de Jong had a hand in that development. He scored Augsburg’s third goal just a minute after coming off the bench as his team beat Stuttgart 3-0. While still in 16th place – which would put them in a relegation playoff – Augsburg’s 30 points have them tied with 15th-place Fortuna Dusseldorf with three games left.

In recent months, Olivier Occéan has mostly been a spectator for Eintracht Frankfurt but he got a few rare minutes on Sunday as he came on in the 64th minute of Frankfurt’s scoreless draw with Mainz 05. Frankfurt remain in fifth place, three points behind Schalke 04, who hold Germany's fourth and final Champions League berth.
Down in the 2.Bundesliga, Kevin McKenna and FC Köln missed a chance to move back into third place and into the promotion playoff position. Even as current third-place team Kaiserslautern lost over the weekend, Köln could only play 1860 Munich to a 1-1 tie. McKenna played the whole game and Rob Friend came on in the second half for Munich, who are in sixth.
The inevitable happened for Julian de Guzman and Jahn Regensburg, who have been in last place since early December, as they were officially relegated to the 3.Liga, losing 1-0 to Union Berlin on Friday.
In Scotland, Andre Hainault has made back-to-back starts for Ross County as they inched closer to a Europa League spot with a 1-0 win over Dundee United on Friday. Ross are in fifth place with 49 points and are two points back of the slumping Inverness Caledonian Thistle in third place.
Six games into the new Swedish Allsvenskan season, it was a tough season debut for Kenny Stamatopoulos, who gave up a late equalizer as his club AIK tied Halmstad 3-3. AIK have one win in six games and are in 11th place with six points.

Down a league in the Superettan, it was a first loss of the season for Nik Ledgerwood and Hammarby as they lost 1-0 to league leaders Falkenberg. Their five points in four games put Hammarby in eighth place.
In Norway, forward Tosaint Ricketts got the start and played the first half as Sadnes Ulf are now unbeaten in four games after winning 1-0 against Rosenborg. Their two wins and two draws have them has them up into 10th place with eight points through six games.
In Portugal, Pedro Pacheco and Santa Clara are winless in four games after trying Porto II 2-2 on Sunday in a game that featured three penalties. Santa Clara are in ninth place with 55 points.
In Uruguay, Lucas Cavallini started and lasted 66 minutes for Juventud de las Piedras as they won for the first time in three games with a 3-2 result over Cerro Largo. Juventud have 13 points in 10 games in the Clausura and are in 11th place.
