Fantasy: Positional rankings for Week 8 games this week and weekend

Another quick turnaround brings us a COLOSSAL Week 8 of MLS Fantasy, with all 26 teams playing twice. Be sure to set your squad before Wednesday night as ALL players will lock midweek this round and salary constraints could render multiple teams over budget. With that said, let’s get into the top fantasy plays at each position this week!

Goalkeepers

Sean Johnson leads all goalkeepers with 55 fantasy points and he’s one of a handful of ‘keepers with two home games this week. The league-leading shot stopper could be put to the test against Toronto FC on Wednesday, but he rounds the week out with a good shot at clean sheet points against a sputtering FC Cincinnati attack on Saturday.

Reto Ziegler rewarded his faithful fantasy managers with an assist off a corner kick in Week 7, underscoring his upside as a defender with a big role on set pieces. The addition of Andres Ricuarte could eat into Ziegler’s share of corner kicks, but on a double game week it’s back to the well with the FC Dallas captain until it’s clear that he’s off of set pieces and penalty kicks.

Golden Boot frontrunner Diego Rossi gets pair of favorable home matchups in Week 8. He’ll look to add to his league-leading goal haul against an overmatched Vancouver side before facing a San Jose defense that’s shipped a whopping 14 goals over their last four matches.
