Regional rivals New England Revolution and New York Red Bulls met once again at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, playing to a 1-1 draw courtesy of two first-half goals.
The Red Bulls opened strongly with a pair of opportunities in the early minutes of the match, but things leveled out by the midway point of the first half. It was the visitors who scored first, though, through Omir Fernandez. Head coach Chris Armas gave some of the team's younger players a chance, and the choice paid off after Fernandez and fellow Homegrown Ben Mines combined for the game's first goal in the 27th minute.
The Red Bulls' lead only lasted six minutes, with Revolution standout Gustavo Bou scoring in the 35th minute. The hosts scored on a counter, on a play that saw Teal Bunbury with a pass to Bou in the box, who then scored from close range.
The Revolution enjoyed a more dominant second half, both in possession and in shots, searching for a go-ahead goal. Though Bou's 66th-minute shot that hit the woodwork stood out as one of the hosts' best to get that goal, very few quality chances came from them. The Revolution also dominated the game's dying minutes, but continued their streak of not scoring in the final 30 minutes of a game in 2020.
Though the Red Bulls came out with a point, they also had Tim Parker pick up a red card in stoppage time for a foul on Tajon Buchanan.

- THE BIG PICTURE: Hardly the most entertaining matchup between these two, with both struggling to convert their chances. The Revolution dominated in possession and in shots, but struggled to convert their chances. The Red Bulls can consider this a strong comeback from a disappointing loss at the Philadelphia Union, but were on the back foot for most of the second half.
- MOMENT OF THE MATCH: Armas gave younger players a chance against the Revolution, and Fernandez and Mines rewarded him with a play that ended with Fernandez scoring from an angle for the game's first goal.
- MAN OF THE MATCH: Bou was easily the best of the bunch on Saturday, scoring the Revolution's lone goal and visibly in pursuit of another, ending the night with four shots.
