Chicago Fire star Nico Gaitan "going to miss some games" after injury

Nico Gaitan - Chicago Fire

After a breakout goal and two assist performance on Wednesday, Nico Gaitan picked up right where he left off against Minnesota United on Saturday.

The Chicago Fire No. 10 scored an early goal, a deft touch around Vito Mannone for a tap in, and was in the midst of delivering another virtuoso performance. Later in the first half, the Argentine picked out a pristine through ball to Nemanja Nikolic

But, after releasing the pass, Gaitan immediately grabbed his leg, went to the grass and signaled for a substitution. His day was done.

Gaitan, 31, now has two goals and four assists across nine appearances (seven starts) at the start of his Fire career.

After the match, Fire head coach Veljko Paunovic provided an update on the star addition's status.

"Gaitan pulled his hamstring so we’ll see what’s the final diagnosis. We don’t think it’s bad but he’s going to miss some games and he’ll do the MRI tonight," Paunovic told reporters.

Chicago are next in action on Saturday against the San Jose Earthquakes (3:30 pm ET | Univision in US, MLS LIVE on DAZN in Canada).
