Wednesday night, Minnesota United FC midfielder Collin Martin returned to the field after being an unused sub last week. And the crowd was right there with him.
Martin, who came out publicly on Friday, ahead of Minnesota United's Pride Night game against FC Dallas, made his first on-field appearance in Wednesday's 4-3 win over Toronto FC. Coming off the bench in the 79th minute for Rasmus Schuller, the 23-year-old entered the field to a standing ovation from the supporters at TCF Bank Stadium.
After the final whistle, every #MNUFC player and coach drifted towards Martin for high-fives and hugs. Great to see the team supporting the midfielder.

Martin is currently the only active openly gay male professional athlete in the major five team sports in the United States.
