Gregory Van der Wiel is close to completing a deal to join Toronto FC, according to Italian reporter Gianlugi Longari.
Longari tweeted on Thursday that the Dutch defender is “near total agreement” with TFC, who reportedly made an offer for the Cagliari right back last week.
Van der Wiel, 29, signed with the Serie A side last year from Turkish club Fenerbahce. He’s had a bit of a tough go in Italy, appearing in just five games this season. He previously played for Ajax and Paris Saint-Germain and has 46 career caps for the Netherlands.
