Poll: To run up, or not to run up? Tell us how you like your penalty kicks

It wasn’t the best Tuesday night for D.C. United, who saw their CONCACAF Champions League run come to an end with a 3-1 aggregate loss in their quarterfinal series against Queretaro.

D.C., who lost the first leg 2-0 in Queretaro last week, were dealt a big blow early, with Angel Sepulveda scoring in the fourth minute at RFK Stadium to give Los Gallos Blancos a 3-0 aggregate lead and a valuable away goal.

The strike meant that D.C. would have to score at least four times to advance to the semis. They ended up only mustering a lone, late tally, but had a brief moment of hope at a comeback in the 55th minute, when Patrick Nyarko earned a penalty kick.

United attacker Chris Rolfe stepped up to take the PK, but had his effort denied by Queretaro ‘keeper Tiago Volpi.

As you can see, Rolfe didn’t take much of a run up to his spot kick. Personally, I prefer a healthy head-start on PKs.

Everyone has their own preference, however, and we’re curious about yours. So, run-up or no run-up? Have your say in the poll below:
