Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini hopes Frank Lampard situation "will be resolved in the next days"

Frank Lampard, Manchester City

The immediate future of New York City FC Designated Player Frank Lampard should be "resolved in the next days."

Those are the words of Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, who has benefited from having Lampard on loan at the English club to the tune of six goals and two assists in 16 appearances across all competitions.

ā€œI hope Frankā€™s situation will be resolved in the next days," Pellegrini told media on Tuesday. "I said in the beginning that it will be during December we are going to have the last decision. I repeat Frank is very important for our team so I hope he will stay here.ā€

NYCFC were targeting a January Lampard return for preseason training camp ahead of their inaugural 2015 season. But Pellegrini is hoping to hold on to the player for a bit longer and in the same press conference he was asked whether the Lampard situation risked "upsetting his colleagues in New York." "I don't think so," he added. "That is why we have long conversations with all of them. That is just one club so I think that what is better for the club is better for all the clubs."
