We're worried about the condition of Joao Plata. He's been the catalyst this season.

That "Last Five" is pretty as a picture, and the attack is purring like a finely tuned racecar. Every time they play, they are must-see TV.

A truly bizarre Cascadia Cup game ended with a truly bizarre penalty call. The Sounders will obviously be happy to take the road point.

Last: 5

That was a missed opportunity. The 'Caps are still a work in progress, so it's understandable. But getting three points vs. Seattle would have been a real statement.

The world's most dangerous job is playing as a defender for Sporting KC.

Last: 7

We're actually more impressed by the New England result than the Houston one. They have a lot of answers defensively, and are getting better in attack every week.

Gutty draw in Kansas City that probably feels like a win.

Not a terrible road result in KC, compared to what it could have been. First five minutes looked like a potential trainwreck.

The Power Rankings Politburo expects a ticked-off Landon Donovan to rain hellfire down upon MLS defenses for the rest of the season.

Welcome back to the world of the living! The Impact defense was the exact tonic the struggling Rapids attack needed.

After going a month-and-a-half without scoring multiple goals, the Crew have now done it back-to-back. In the process, they broke an eight-game winless skid.

Last: 10

Speaking of winless skids … it's now seven for FC Dallas. They've taken just two of the last 21 points available. If they lose to San Jose this weekend, feel free to panic.

Losing Mark Sherrod for the season was a gut punch, as he'd been so good at creating space for the rest of the attack. Miserable week for the Dynamo.

Seem to have hit upon something with the Pierazzi/Stephenson central midfield combo. They make the Quakes more dynamic where it counts.

Last: 17

Is this the real Maximiliano Urruti? He's got four goals in his last four games and seems to have responded to his early-season benching.

Last: 14

There are no "must-win" games this early in the season, but Wednesday's feels huge. It comes against a conference rival, and it could lift Chivas off the bottom of the standings.

  • This Week: Wednesday vs. Portland (10:30 pm, MLS LIVE)
Saturday vs. Philadelphia (10:30 pm, MLS LIVE)

The Fire don't seem any closer to solving their defensive issues. Just their third loss of the season, but it really feels like they're always going to have to outscore teams.

Last: 17

They've now conceded nine goals in their last two games. At least they have a week of R&R in Los Angeles to think about how to get it right.

Last: 19

Two wins out of their last 20 in MLS, including the playoffs. They already have four multi-goal losses this season. It's bad in Montreal right now.
