Ecuador will be the next team to drop in on the US national team for a friendly, MLSsoccer.com has learned. According to the Ecuadorian Football Federation, La Tri will travel to Connecticut to take on the US on Oct. 11.

The city and venue weren’t immediately known. The US last played in the Constitution State at East Hartford’s Rentschler Field in May of last year, a 4-2 loss to the Czech Republic in a pre-World Cup friendly. They have also played matches before at the Yale Bowl in New Haven and Veterans Stadium in New Britain.

A spokesman for US Soccer declined to comment when reached by MLSsoccer.com.

Ecuador, who appeared in both the 2002 and 2006 World Cups, are currently No. 64 in the most recent FIFA world rankings. They went winless at last month’s Copa América. The US trip would come just four days after Ecuador's opener in CONMEBOL qualifying for the 2014 World Cup — the Ecuadorians will host Venezuela in Quito on Oct. 7.

The US last faced La Tri in March of 2007, a 3-1 victory by the Americans at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. Landon Donovan scored a hat trick in the win, which was former head coach Bob Bradley’s third game in charge. The US have not beaten a South American side in 12 tries since then.
