TORONTO — Dwayne De Rosario will not be offered a loan stay with Scottish giants Celtic.
STV’s Grant Russell confirmed to MLSsoccer.com that there would be no deal to have De Rosario join the club. Russell said that club executives informed reporters in Scotland on Thursday following training. De Rosario is expected to return to Toronto following the conclusion of the trial Friday.
De Rosario did not respond to a request to speak, and Toronto FC has declined comment until De Rosario returns.
Last week director of player personal Paul Mariner said that Toronto were working with the league to re-negotiate De Rosario’s contract. He did not suggest that the club was looking to make him a DP.
Previously, De Rosario had indicated that he is unhappy with his current contract.
