American Exports: Cooper eyes November return

Kenny Cooper suffered a broken right ankle on Thursday in his first training session with 1860 Munich

AMSTERDAM – Injured 1860 Munich striker Kenny Cooper is on recovery schedule, with the club hoping he will be able to return to competitive action by early November.

The 25-year old suffered a broken ankle on the first day of full training in the preseason and is now diligently working to get back on the practice field.

"Hopefully, in the next two or three weeks, he will be able to train on the pitch with the ball," Lions press officer Robert Hettich told MLSsoccer.com on Tuesday. "Then, he will need three or four weeks more, I think, before he is ready for the games."

Cooper is currently on an intense fitness program that has him working out twice nearly every day of the week and the club is pleased with his progress.

"He's on a good way," confirmed Hettich. "He is on time with the injury."

Having split their first four games of the new 2.Bundesliga season, 1860 stand mid-table in ninth place.
