Quakes team with Los Gatos United Soccer League

The Quakes have teamed up with Los Gatos United Soccer Club.

The San Jose Earthquakes and Los Gatos United Soccer League have teamed up as partners in the Earthquakes' unique Student of the Game program. Los Gatos United Soccer League joined as a Quakes partner this past week for the first time.

The Los Gatos United Soccer League is an affiliate of the California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA) District 2. They are the fourth largest league (1600+ players) in CYSA District 2 with a strong showing in the competitive soccer divisions and a growing recreation division. Visit their website at www.lgusl.org for more information.

"The Los Gatos United Soccer League is thrilled to partner up with the San Jose Earthquakes and their Student of the Game program for the 2005 season," Los Gatos United Soccer League President Dale Greenley said. "We see tremendous value for our young players, who get to experience the magic of attending a professional game in person, as well as benefit from the many aspects of the program that focus on educating and improving our coaching staff."

"We are happy to add Los Gatos as a Student of the Game partner," said Earthquakes President & General Manager. "They are a strong league and we look forward to working with them. We are excited that they want to take advantage of our soccer education program."

The Earthquakes Student of the Game program was established in 2002 to provide Bay Area youth soccer leagues with an education-based curriculum that will further enhance youth players', coaches' and parents' soccer knowledge and appreciation for the game. The Earthquakes program motivates and educates by providing partner leagues with exclusive access to the Quakes' coaches and players through coaching clinics and appearances, among other benefits.

"The league feels privileged to have the Earthquakes playing right here in our own backyard for their tenth season," added Greenley. "We look forward to a great relationship with the organization now, and into the future."

In addition to a league night and pre-game "Parade of Champions", Student of the Game partner leagues are also able to take advantage of programs such as a special behind-the-scenes coaching clinic with Quakes and other MLS coaches at an Earthquakes home game, in addition to on-site coaches clinics, player appearances, an appearance from Lalas, and an exclusive advanced level coaching event for their clubs. Partner leagues receive a newsletter with training tips for players, the ability to purchase uniforms and equipment at reduced rates, discounts on Quakes tickets as well as other fundraising and sponsorship options.
